Contest Theme: Garden Party

Competition Format:
Each individual will compete in the design and execution of a fresh floral arrangement centerpiece and
table design, which may include but is not limited to such items as dishes, napkins, additional table coverings, etc. Contestants will be judged in the same category. Pre-Registration is required and must be received by May 23, 2022. To register email melinda@gillespiesflowers.com or call Melinda at 304-536-1881.

 

Design Guidelines:
Each contestant should review the design guidelines prior to the competition. Contestants will have one hour to set up their design. Entries are arrangements of fresh floral cut materials and design elements (dishes, napkins, etc.). All cut materials and table design elements will be provided by the contestant. Each exhibitor will be furnished with a workstation, table and tablecloth. Entries will be displayed on a 30” round table space with a white table covering. The contestant is responsible for positioning all elements of their design on the table. Entry should be designed to be VIEWED FROM ALL SIDES. Each contestant must bring their own tools. Fresh flowers only. Small dry accents can be used (ex. wheat, lotus pods, and moss).

 

Contest Location and Set-Up Time:
Contest Location – Gillespie’s Flowers and Productions 377 Main Street West, White Sulphur Springs WV
Set-Up Time: Contestants may set up their display Thursday- May 26, 2022 between 10:00am and 5:00pm.

 

JUDGING:
Judging will be based on the following five categories:
• Design Aesthetics – Line/Form, Color, and Space
• Design Principles – Balance, Proportion, and Unity
• Mechanics/Execution – Neatness and Cleanliness of Design, Proper Coverage of Foam, and Sturdiness of Design
• Creativity

Only judges and Committee members will be allowed inside the competition area while judging is in progress.

Contestants may pick up their arrangement and accessories on Saturday May 28th at 4:30pm or
Tuesday May 31st between 8:30am – 5:00pm.

 

Prizes:
Winning entries will be announced Friday May 27,2022 at 9:00am and will be on display for viewing at
Gillespie’s Flowers and Productions on May 27 from 8:30am – 5:00pm and Saturday May 28th from 8:30am – 4:30pm.
